Post-party Hangover Plan

So last night crept up on you, you didn't have time to prepare your body with the Pre-party Plan (see page 74), you overdid it with the alcohol, and this morning you're suffering the inevitable consequences. This is the plan that will help get you back on your feet as soon as physically possible.

About hangovers

To understand how this plan works, you need to understand what a hangover is. The answer to that is toxin poisoning. All the effects that alcohol has had on your body are ganging up on you and causing painful symptoms. For example, every four alcoholic drinks you drank last night caused up to 1 litre (2 pints) of fluid to be lost from your system. This creates dehydration and causes headaches, fatigue and that parched-mouth feeling. A hangover is also the sign of low blood sugar in the body. Normally, when you sleep, the body fuels itself with glucose stored in the liver; however, when the liver is dealing with alcohol, it stops doing the rest of its jobs. This means that when you wake up your blood-sugar levels are likely to be extremely low, which adds to your fatigue, leaves you feeling sick and light-headed, but also causes those shakes you're trying to hide. Finally, alcohol inflames the lining of your stomach, creating that queasy feeling. That's the bad news; the good news is that, although you can't stop all these symptoms in the next 5 minutes, you can dramatically speed up their demise with this plan.
